Thank you

Oh my Jesus, because of you I am free.

What can I do but love you with my life every moment every day.

Daily, bring me back to that first love and the remembrance of your sacrifice to live my life pouring out and giving thanks.

Thank you for the cross my Friend.

Matthew 27

Turned over

Father, because of the death of Christ I no longer live for myself. I am being turned over to death, just like Lazarus was, so that the life of Jesus may be made manifest for your own glory.

I can't cover my own shame, but you have done it once and for all. Thank you.

Father, compel me with the love of Christ, control me with the love of Christ, that my desires, my heart, actions, behaviors and motives be controlled by you and not for my own benefit. Return me to my first love that I may not take your sacrifice for me for granted and I will walk daily in gratitude to you. That there will be an overflow into the people around me. Those you have placed there... even what I feel are interruptions. Thank you that I no longer have to live for myself, but that I can live for you. Thank you for turning me over to death to live for you.

Resurrection

Father, in this scene of the death of Lazarus, Mary and Martha, they were hurt. They were mourning and couldn't understand why Jesus waited. They knew He could heal their brother. But He didn't. He didn't even come in time.

Actually... He waited, as scriptures say, He waited *because* He loved. He didn't come right away because He loved them. Shocking.

You wanted them to see that even in death, you receive the glory. You allow what looks to me like failure for a greater good. So that all may see and know what you are capable of... Resurrection.

And when Jesus said those words "I am the resurrection and the life" He said them to one woman, with possibly no one else around. You wanted one woman to know you intimately. You are the resurrection and the life. You wanted her to look past today into eternity and see what you have given all mankind through Christ. You have given life.

So Father, help me to know that you use even my failures for your glory. Help me to trust you with the things in my life that I mourn for that look like they are dead and have no fruit. Help me to know that you allow pain to grow me, that I may know you more intimately. Help me to know that you are at work even when I can't see it. And help me to obey your words when they look silly and fruitless and to know that you have called me to an eternal purpose that will not bear fruit on this earth alone, but it will go into eternity as I step out in obedience to you.

John 11

Stone

Father, give me a new heart of flesh. Remove the heart of stone from me.

You wrote your law on the stone with your very hand. But the law alone leads to condemnation, because I can never fulfill it on my own.

Write your law in my heart, with Your Holy Spirit, that leads to life. Thank you that in you I am sufficient in the new covenant. Thank you that I can have full confidence in the finished work of Christ.

Unveiled

Father, where your Spirit is, there is freedom. Thank you for your freedom because of the finished work of Jesus.

The law could never be fulfilled on my own, it is a never ending task. But you transform me from glory to glory.

"If there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in glory."

Thank you that the death and resurrection of Jesus made grace final. You completely and perfectly fulfilled the requirements of the law, through Christ.

It Was Made Permanent.

Thank you that one day I will behold your glory with an unveiled face as you change me from one degree of glory to another. Help me to walk in the righteousness you have robed me with in obedience to your Holy Spirit.

Months

Father, I plan, schedule, worry and stress about it all and how it all will fit together and work out.

I plan out the days,  the months and the years. I think I have a final goal and that if I do it the right way it will all go according to how I plan for the perfect outcome.

But really I don't. Job reminds me that you hold the months and you appoint the limits of all my days and how they are lived out.

Help me to let my fists unclench from the stress and the plans. Why haven't I learned this by now? Help me to breath it all out and relax and lean back into your will and your plans. Help me to remember that worry doesn't add a day to my life and you hold it all in your hands. Your strong sovereign hands. Thank you Father. I know you hold me.

Job 14

Culture

Father, help me to see the culture you have placed me in as a divine calling and not as something I have to remove myself from. Help me to remember that you call me to be light in the darkness and that is where light shines the brightest.

Open my eyes to why you have placed me in this culture so that I can understand how to live the gospel out.

Thank you for Paul's example of living as light in a dark culture, where he spoke truth and love to the believers there to encourage them to do the same. He didn't tell them to shy away, but to confront with gospel in hopes of gospel transformation, because of your great love.

Oh, what grace I don't deserve, you pour out for all people. You call no one too far gone to be transformed by your Spirit.
